Story
My sister and I were devastated when mum died. Things happened so suddenly and we had very little time to breathe. Whilst emptying mum's house we had time to think about mum's last few years with us. We can honestly say that mum's lifeline for friendship, activities and support was Flintshire Disability forum. They gave her a lifeline from her solitary life and a break from the pain she felt from her physical illness and mainly her loneliness
The group enabled her to accomplish so many things that we were so proud of, such as canoeing, abseiling etc. Every week they would call to check if she was attending the group, this in it's self gave my sister and I extra reassurance that people close to her were looking out for her.
We did not collect any money at mum's funeral as it was all a blur, but now having had time to reflect, we would like to raise money for such a wonderful charity, that provides great support and friendship for those with any sort of disability.
We can not thank them enough for everything they had done for mum in her lifetime, we are eternally grateful!
If you can spare a penny or two in loving memorandum for our mum, u am sure the group will be truly thankful.
If you would like to know any further information about the group, please do not hesitate to contact me or Janet Thomas on 01352 756618

7 years agoMy sister and I just wanted to touch base with you all. Our summers have been busy, but we are still determined to keep raising money for Flintshire Disability Forum. We have reached an amazing £1005 already, which is just breathtaking for us! We are so overwhelmed with everyone's generosity. I have extended the deadline to 25th October, so friends, colleagues and family lets dig deep and do this to help enrich the lives and Independence of those living with disability and/or impairments in Flintshire. Love you all. xxxx

7 years agoZoe and I are overwhelmed with everyone's generosity. We have smashed the original target! We would love to raise as much as possible so let's if we can hit £750. Here's mum at a canoeing outing, I remember her telling me how she was flirting outrageously with the young man in the photo, but beneath it she was petrified of capsizing! Miss you so much mum! Xx
