I’m taking part in a sponsored row for my rowing club in memory of my Nan. I’m rowing 30K from Bath to Bristol on June 16th with my friends from The City of Bristol Rowing Club. Our club relies mostly on hand me down equipment and we regularly row in patched up boats. Our clubhouse is pretty much a tin shed with a loo in the corner. Our coaches are all volunteers who give up their time to help us compete against some of the best clubs in the country. We sometimes beat the clubs with the fancy kit!

Please help me to raise money to help our club and to remember Nan.

Nan only got to see me row once with my friends but she loved it and cheered really loudly from the bank. I know she would’ve loved the club and everything it stands for.

City of Bristol Rowing Club was set up in the 1950’s by a group of dockers when the Harbourside in Bristol was a working dock and today supports and encourages anyone who wants to have a go at rowing. One of my friends is visually impaired and was the first rower to race in a guided (single!) scull with another of our friends guiding her down the race course. They use headsets to communicate and negotiate the bends etc.

I love rowing and feel really lucky that I got the chance to get involved in such a brilliant sport. Please donate what you can: we are hoping to raise enough to buy a secondhand boat.

I will be donating 20% of the money I raise to St Michaels Hospice in Hereford. Our friends at home will know how amazing and special this place is for so many people in need of their care.
