Local authorities estimated that 345 persons were sleeping rough across Wales in the 2 weeks between 16th and 29th October 2017. This is an increase of 10 per cent (32 persons) compared with the exercise carried out in October 2016.

During 2016-17 a total of 9,210 households were assessed as threatened with homelessness within 56 days.

It can happen to anyone. Homeless people are people with rights and whilst most will have some problems with addiction – can you imagine their quality of life? Addiction to substances would most likely be a form of release for them to escape the reality of being homeless which makes obtaining employment difficult. As much as we like to think homeless people are victims of abuse from other members of the community and face discrimination more so than a single ethnic minority. Homelessness is a growing problem and one that needs to be addressed on a wider level. Talking about things like this openly is seen as a taboo subject within many communities but this Ramadhan I am joining The Divine Clinic Association to help the cause to help raise awareness and donations towards helping the homeless in my local home town. Ramadhan is a religious festival and observed by Muslims all over the world, whereby we go without food and water between hours of day break to sunset. It is a month of reflection and working to establish peace within ones heart but also is a month of giving to others. The homeless is a growing concern in all communities across the UK and our Association are running local awareness programs to help tackle some of these issues. If you would be so kind this Ramadhan to give and contribute what you can from your heart towards this charitable cause it would be most appreciated. We are looking to buy fresh sanitation products, water and sleeping items for the homeless for around the local area of Barry, Wales. All contributions are greatly appreciated and special prayers of thanks from Our Beloved Sheikh Qutubh Qalander will be held for those who contribute. Let’s work together to make our community great and bring more attention to this growing systemic problem that most will dare not discuss.
