Since the refugee crisis in the Middle East intensified I have felt a strong calling to offer my help and support.
It is painful to watch from afar such extreme suffering on such a large scale.

I have been privileged to work for many years as a Doula, supporting pregnant women, couples and families through pregnancy, birth and early parenthood. Welcoming precious new lives into the world!

I recently discovered Nurture Project International, a small volunteer run not for profit organisation doing amazing work in response to the crisis, conflict, and disaster in Europe and the Middle East. They provide a variety of lifesaving services to refugee mother's and babies and are looking for Midwives, Lactation Consultants, Doulas and Breast Feeding Peer Supporters to join their team.

In a weeks time I will be travelling to Northern Greece to volunteer for two weeks with Nurture Project.
I will be working as part of a team providing emergency support for nursing mothers and babies. I will be helping to create a nurturing space for mothers and babies within the camp, working in coordination with Refugee Trauma Initiative. I will also be working alongside Midwives and Lactation Consultants in their work caring for pregnant women and mothers.

NPI is run entirely by volunteers and funded by donations. All the money they receive is invested in emergency supplies, shelter and the diverse needs of the camps they are working in. As a result they are unable to contribute towards any travel or living costs of their volunteers.

I am fortunate to be in a position to be able to give my time and energy to this work. However it is a challenge for me to fully fund this trip myself.
My hope is to raise some money towards my accomodation, travel and basic living costs while there.

Any excess money I manage to raise I will donate to Nurture Project International.
