I have been lucky enough to be chosen to visit Malawi to work with our link school, Luchenza Community Day Secondary School. Emphasis is placed on working with the Girls Go for Health group which has been established in the school. The role of the health group is to support girls through education and to encourage gender equality. The group provide workshops on sensitive issues such as personal hygiene, sexual health and discrimination faced by girls in Malawi.

I will get the chance to see the great deal of work that is carried out in the local community when we are on our visit. We will visit hospitals, prisons and work with people at grass roots level to alleviate poverty.

In order to raise £1200 I will be taking part in various fundraising activities including walking 11 miles with some friends in November. My sister is organising a football match. My mum is planning to cycle around Arran with a few friends, though they don't know it yet!!
