This week , we lost a great friend in Peter Mapstone 'Mappy'. Pete has been associated with Foxbury for over 30 years. For many years he was with Old Elthamians, but the past four years he has been assistant groundsman for Glebe FC. More than that , he was a wonderfully dignified, charming, funny man who loved many sports including Cricket, rugby, and football. He simply adored coming to Foxbury every day. if only to walk over the pitches treading 'divots' or in the Autumn determined to beat a million leave dropping. It is right and fitting that his memory lives forever. We have read the wonderful tributes on social media, now is a chance to make your personal donation. I'm sure Pete would have loved this idea. We aim to buy a beautiful 'Teak wooden garden Bench' ,personally inscribed 'In loving memory - Peter 'Mappy' Mapstone and the years of his life . Additionally we will plant a tree in his honour and after settlement add a beautiful slate stone , engraved tribute- ' Peter 'Mappy' Mapstone, - followed by a suitable tribute. I had the honour of getting to know 'Mappy' extremely well. we spent hours, 6 days a week, talking , walking , drinking Tea, but his favourite Ale 'Tribute' at the weekend . he would never ask for anything , Now is our chance to make a donation, no matter the size, let s create a never ending legacy for 'mappy'
