Story
Hi, I‘m Maggie, I feel so embarrassed and ashamed by asking people who don’t know me to help me raise funds to purchase a couple of much needed items that I’m ashamed to say I can’t afford to buy with my disability benefit. Many years ago I had a motorcycle accident that left me in severe pain down my back. After many years of physiotherapy, tests, x-rays, MRI scans etc I was finally told that I’d damaged my spine, there was nothing more that could be done for me and I’d probably end up in a wheelchair within 10 years as my disability is progressive and is now much worse than when I was originally diagnosed. I‘m in severe pain all the time and currently take 480 mg of Morphine daily but so far I’ve managed to prove the Drs wrong in that respect but I am now getting to the stage where I can no longer walk without crutches or aids. The hospital gave me some crutches to help me move about indoors and I’d managed to save up and bought a second hand Mobility Scooter that enabled me to leave my bungalow to go shopping, pay bills, appts etc. However after 4 years and several repairs to my Mobility Scooter, it has now broken down again and the shop says it is beyond repair, as a result of this I’ve been unable to leave the house. I can’t afford taxis etc on my limited income nor can I ever hope to afford to buy another second hand Mobility Scooter. I know I’ve also asked for help towards a rain canopy but this is because I never had one previously when my old Scooter was working and I usually ended up freezing and soaking wet, especially in the winter months. It’s now been 3 months since I’ve gone outdoors and I’m sincerely hoping with all my heart that there are some kind and generous people out there who could help me to buy another second hand Mobility Scooter with a rain canopy. Any amount of money, however small, would be gratefully appreciated and received with my heartfelt thanks. Please can anyone help me to live the rest of my years ( I’m 50+ ) in enjoyment and once again enable me to leave my bungalow. If anyone would like to leave a donation via PayPal then you‘re more than welcome to do so, my PayPal details are :- magsta1962@yahoo.co.uk 😀 Thank you all for taking the time to read this post even if you couldn’t afford to leave a donation. Thank you for reading, have a great day !!😀

6 years agoHi guys, sorry I've not posted for a while but as well as my problems my husband has just come out of hospital after having a femoral bypass operation. It's one thing after another. The weather looks good but I'm still not out and about yet, hopefully soon. I’d appreciate it if you guys could share this page a bit more & help me get near my goal of getting a mobility scooter for next year as I know I wont get the much needed funds this year, I’ve not been out since June 2017, mind you the weather don't look that good ☺️Thanks guys

6 years ago🦋Well guys, the weather seems to be getting warmer which can only be a good thing as we can all switch our heating off and save a few quid☺️. I’ve not posted for a while as I’ve been a bit under the weather ( excuse the pun ) with the amount of pain I’m in on a daily basis. The morphine barely takes the edge off & my gp doesn’t want to increase the dosage anymore, I’m currently on 480mg daily on a good day but I shouldn’t moan as there is always someone worse off than me. Please help me reach my target or even share, I’d be very grateful☺️xx🦋

6 years agoWeather is really bad here, snow is a good few inches deep and more to come. I feel so sorry for all those people who have no option but to go out in it. As I’m still without a mobility scooter I’ve been unable to get outside for over a year and a half. I’m hoping that all you lovely people who have donated so far can find it in your hearts to share this page for me as much as you can otherwise Ill be stuck indoors again this year. I’m more than grateful for all the donations I’ve received so far but I still need more help to reach my goal.🤗😘

I’ve always helped other charities but never thought I would need to rely on one myself, it just goes to show that no matter who you are, disabilities do not discriminate, they affect anyone and everyone including families, friends etc.
