Also known as the honey bear, sun bears are the rarest of all bear species. Sun bears are at the brink of extinction, being constantly hunted and killed to be used in medicines that have not even been proven to work. Mother bears are killed, and their cubs brought up as pets in small, cramped cages and their habitat is constantly being destroyed due to deforestation.
My goal is to raise money to go and help in the conservation work that is vital to the survival of this wonderful species. At the sun bear conservation centre they rescue sun bears under threat, providing them with a safe home and then reintroduce the bears into the wild when they are ready.
I am training to run in some events to raise money for this project and hope to help with the conservation of this magnificent bear
