Story

When my daughter started school, she became friends with a little girl called Christina Thomas. Christina was a bubbly little girl, always smiling... but unfortunately, about 18 months ago, Christina started getting ill, upset and tired a lot. Her parents, Kenny Thomas and his wife Francisca, saught medical help and found out that Christina had a brain tumour . Christina is just 5 years old, and the news was a real shock.

Christina's tumour has since been announced as inoperable as it is on the brain stem. Her family have been seeking the best advice from across the world, to give her the best possible chance of survival.

So far, instead of being hospitalised, her family have been taking an holistic approach with Christina, making her life stay as normal as possible. Christina has really benefited from this and has stayed highly active, she goes to school every day and sees her friends. Christina's tumour had stayed a similar size for months, until recently...

A recent scan has shown that her tumour has started to grow once again, and Christina's parents are now having to find treatment abroad, obviously, this needs funding. The treatment that she needs cannot be found here in the UK.

My daughter understands that Christina is very ill and has seen that people have been raising as much money as possible, to go towards Christina's treatment. She now would like to raise some money herself, so will be working towards completing some tasks over the school holidays, to try and get some sponsors. Her first task being,: to see how many books she can read in one day.

We would appreciate so much, if you would be able to donate towards this worthy cause, so that Christina Thomas can have a better quality of life until, hopefully, a cure can be found. We would also appreciate any prayers, to give Christina strength and give her the path to the right treatment.

A few pence, or a pound here and there all adds up! Thank you in advance for your support.

Gabriella is on a roll again... she's recently been reading some Mr Men books and Charlie & Lola books. She has now reached 75 books! I really think she might actually reach 100 books by 23rd August! I never thought a 5 year old would persist so much. We just need people to donate to encourage her to finish this challenge... especially when she reaches 100 books. Please support Gabriella in helping her friend, Christina.

Well, Gabriella has now read 61, and a half, books! We mustn't forget the half... very important! (I keep getting reminded). She had her first Ukulele lesson on Wednesday and she seemed very keen. She is not so keen on the practicing of finger exercising over the past few days, to build up strength and toughen up her fingers! But, she'll have another lesson next week, so we'll see if she can play something simple. I saw Christina today, walking around, enjoying herself amongst her friends. It was great to see.

Gabriella had a little challenge of learning to play chess today, Nana taught her very carefully... and then Gabriella beat Nana! Ha ha! Gabriella's next challenge is to learn how to play the Ukulele. Her first lesson is on Wednesday, so we'll see how that goes... As for books. Gabriella is up to book number 48 now. She has really surprised me. Tyrannosaurus Drip was probably the hardest book she has tackled so far, it's a bit of a tongue twister if you try to read it too fast, but she managed it.
