Story
Graeme’s Story
A friend from school suffered a massive stroke on Easter Monday 2017. Some of you may know him. His name is Graeme Cadas who will be 49 this year and is an ex St Aidan’s lad. Doctors said the stroke was due to clash of heads 2 days prior playing for his beloved football team TECH. Graeme recalls waking up on the morning, making a cuppa and going back to bed and the next thing he remembers was his son Jack standing over him. Jack rang 999 and undoubtedly saved Graeme’s life.
He was diagnosed as having a Haemorrhagic Stroke, and should have lost is speech as most do with this type of stroke. It has affected the left half of the brain, which in turn leaves a right sided weakness and as a result he walks slowly and has no dorsiflexion in his right ankle so can’t raise his foot or lift his arm above his chest or pick anything up and has been told this won’t get any better. He has spent 2 months in hospital learning to walk and use his arm.
Anyone who knows Graeme will recall he was a picture of heath regularly playing football and going to the gym. Fittingly he now manages his beloved TECH, the team he played for on that fateful day. Prior to his stroke he raised almost £5,000 for the Denise Taylor cancer trust and Bradley Lowery by running up Ben Nevis twice in 2 days , and doing the great Manchester road race.
The goal is to raise £4,000 to buy a trike for Graeme which is hand built and left handed. This will enable him to get out and exercise regularly once again and not only continue his charity work but put a smile back on his face doing what he loves best.
Any donations would be gratefully appreciated for this genuine and worthy cause.

3 years agoJust wanted to update everyone. With your amazing support we raised a total of £4200.23. On behalf of Graeme thank you so much for your generosity supports. He is due to visit Ice Trikes soon to get specially measured and will then be able to place an order. I have today requested drawdown of funds which I will transfer to Graeme and handover to him. Just Giving take a fee of 2.9% less 25p per donation but that will still leave him with over £4,000 which will cover the cost. Once that happens I will close down this page. Thanks again
