    Story

Kibimba village needs A borehole The community members of Kibimba Village lack access to clean and safe water. They fetch water from open ponds which are contaminated, contamination stems from poor sanitation and at times as a result of sharing the water sources with animals and siltation due to soil erosion. According to Lwengo District Socio Economic Report Volume II 2012 a survey was conducted and of the total district population, 24 percent of persons aged 0 years and above suffered had from diarrhea during the last 30 days. This is associated with the increase in water-borne diseases such as typhoid, which are noticeably on the increase in the district. On top of health hazards created by unsafe water, the survey revealed that at sub county level seventy three percent of the households had to wait at the water source for less than 30 minutes to access water for any use, while 14 percent did not have to wait in order to access water for any use while 13 percent had to wait for more than 30 minutes to access water. The main sources of water for drinking in district included unprotected springs (43 percent), bore holes (19 percent and river, lakes ponds, stream (15 percent). The ponds pose a risk to women and children who can be subjected the risk of accidents and deaths arising from falling into the water wells. It is the above situation that has driven Evangelistic Couriers Association (ECA) to come up with this project of a borehole in kibimba Village so that people have clean safe water .

Although water is one of the key necessities of life, Lwengodistrict safe water coverage stands at 59.7% of which 48% of the total population has access to protected water points and 52% of protected water points are nonfunctional. According to the District Development Plan, Kyazanga sub-county which is the project area has a safe water coverage of 40% with only 33% of the sources functional. This shows that there great need for a borehole in the area.
