Story
5 years ago I was diagnosed with Laryngeal Cancer and underwent intensive radiotherapy and chemo therapy.
Last year I had to undergo a Laryngectomy (removal of voice box) due to recurrent infections and breathing difficulties.
Since then I have learnt to speak using an electronic voice box or by oesophageal speech.
The Glan Clwyd Laryngectomy Club and staff from the Speech and Language department with specialist nurses from Ward 2 have been instrumental in my success.
I am climbing Snowdon to fund raise for the Laryngectomy club which supports the staff and ward to help others in a similar situation.

7 years agoThank you all so much for your wonderful support. It's amazing that the target has been reached and with others collecting for the cancer club we will raise around £2,500. A tough climb but lots of friends came to support me. Weather kind as although windy it didn't rain. Wet, cold and misty at the top but my son carried up a bottle of champagne which we shared to mark the achievement.Round trip including stops around 6 and a half hours. Left 1005 back in car park 1640. Tired today but grateful for all the support and to have been able to do it
