Story
An Appeal for Dr James Akello
Bangor diocese has supported the training of a doctor in Uganda over a period of years called Dr James Akello.
A team from Bangor met James during their visit to Lango in 2006 and subsequently invited the Diocese to finance James
Akello and George Opong to attend The Kampala International Medical University. Following their four years at University
they returned to Lira to work as full time doctors at the hospital.
Dr James works in the Children's Department and I met him with Bishop Andy as part of a visit to Lango in the summer of
2014. During that visit, I witnessed the trauma of children struggling with malnourishment. Very often it is not the lack of
food, but of education which leads to terrible rates of infant mortality.
The opportunity for James to obtain further qualifications to become a Consultant has arisen and I would like to help
towards supporting his education by way of a fund raiser for a triathlon I am competing in on 17th June 2017, all money
donated goes directly to his education fees, thank you in advance,
Rev'd Martin Pritchard
