    Story

    Hey lovely people,

Thank you for visiting our page. We are all volunteers for People For Change, a small, tight-knit organisation made up of passionate volunteers who have been travelling to Africa for the last 10 years to support poverty-stricken children (2-18 years old) and their communities in the hope of contributing to their lives in a way that has lasting positive impact for generations to come.

We do this completely on a voluntary basis (by also paying for our flights) and by focusing on three main aspects of wellbeing:

    1) Health - providing medical visits with qualified nurses, doctors and psychologists

2) Education - providing free access to school and didactical material to all our sponsored children

3) Nutrition - Providing a balanced meal each day to over 200+ children

This October we will be going to Ballanghar, Gambia to run medical visits to over 300 children, deliver courses on health, hygiene and diseases prevention and we will also carry out maintenance and redecorating our kindergarten to make it more efficient for the students.

We are donating our time and money but we are also hoping to receive your financial support to raise £1000 which will be used for the following:

    1. Adding electricity in the class thanks to the a solar panel (£150-200) to ensure kids can stay in class for longer and that the class could be used for evening courses.

    2. Buying two fans to ensure they can use the classes during the hottest months (£100x)

    4. Painting the school and drawing in the classes (£200)

    5. Redoing the over 30yrs old floor (£400)

    6. **Salary for an English teacher to run evening English courses for adults (this would be £600 for a whole year - excluded from our initial goal - if we could receive more funds we could start the course )**

We are extremely grateful for all your support! Your donation means the world to us and will ensure rural communities in  Ballanghar, Gambia thrive.

Only one week to go before our trip and we would like to say: "A massive thank you to you all for your support provided". We have already purchased the fans, decorations, while the rest will need to be purchased directly in the Gambia. We have raised £616 and we are continuing raising funds on a separate page: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/martina-barbatiinglessis. Please help us share this around and let us know if you have any children clothes and stationery you would like to donate! Yours, Martina, Vale, Nich, Laura, Monica
