Story
We are trying to raise money for our dear friend, Jackie Palmer. Jackie runs an organisation called Streetcats here in Spain and works tirelessly rescuing abandoned and injured cats and kittens in and around Conil. She does everything she can to arrange adoptions, usually to Germany, but even if they are not able to be rehomed each and every cat is vaccinated, microchipped and neutered.
Jackie began feeding a few cats on her local beach where today there is now a colony. A lot are adult and not suitable for rehoming and many babies with no mum are left there as well. The colony is fed every day as well as being taken to the vets to be checked, vaccinated, neutered and returned to the beach. They have become quite famous amongst the locals and holidaymakers.
Jackie receives no funding and has to rely on donations from friends, holidaymakers and fellow cat lovers. She hosts fundraising events in her home and cake and bric-a-brac sales, quiz nights, raffles, anything to raise much needed funds to pay for food, bedding, medication, passports, flights etc. etc. The list is literally endless.
Currently there are 43 cats and kittens in Jackie’s care with many this year succumbing to fungal and eye infections and needing medicine and shampoo which costs over €40 per treatment. We could not guess how many cats and kittens Jackie has taken in and rehomed over the past three years, literally hundreds!! She is so dedicated and hardworking despite being in poor health herself.
Any donations received will go to helping with the costs of saving abandoned kittens. Thank you so very much for taking the time to read Jackie’s story and please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like Facebook links to Streetcats and the Beach Cats of Conil.

8 years agoWe only have eight days left to reach the target and it has now become even more important. Please read the story on Jackie's facebook page about Louis. He was found on the beach by Julie last week along with his sibling and he had a broken leg. He's had his op and is doing well but his treatment and recovery will be a costly process. PLEASE consider donating just a few pounds or euros, funds are running low and, in order to continue the fantastic job she has been doing, Jackie really needs your help. Thank you xx

8 years agohttps://vimeo.com/189294110 Please watch this delightful video kindly made by one Jackie's volunteers, Lisa. You will see a lovely lady called Julie who has been feeding the Beach Cats for over five years. Today there is a colony of 22, 10 are regulars and the other 12 belong to a nearby house where the owners refuse to have their cats castrated, and an allotment where again the owner will not get his cats castrated but also does not feed them regularly so, of course, they come every day for a good feed!!
