Story
Our son Matthew is a fun loving, cheeky and outgoing 4 year old who loves to give anything a go and get up to mischief whenever possible like typical children of his age. However, he was born with diplegic cerebral palsy and is unable to walk independently so he uses a walker or tripod sticks to enable him to get around. Even though his mobility is limited he doesn't let anything phase him and always tries to do everything that the other children are doing - even if it means I nearly has a heart attack when he tries to copy them!
We have tried various therapy treatments in order to assist Matthew with improving his balance / co-ordination and at the beginning of 2017 we purchased a “Mollii” suit for him from Remotion. It works by using mild electro-stimulation to target muscle groups which do not work as they should do. By wearing the suit for 1 hour every other day it helps to relieve muscle tension, spasticity and imbalances within Matthews body. We have seen great progress with Matthews movement capability and his balance. However, these suits only allow for a small amount of growing room and therefore when he grows out of his current Mollii Suit (which will be within the next 6 months) we will have to purchase a new one. Hence why we are raising money to assist with purchasing another one.
We would also like Matthew to begin tailored therapy sessions at the Kids Physio Works which coupled with the benefits of the Mollii suit will help his muscles to get stronger and improve his balance. This in turn will hopefully lead to him having a more independent life which is what we and he truly want.
We do not know what the future may hold for Matthew but please help us to give him every opportunity possible to improve his mobility so he can reach his potential.
A massive thank you for your support in advance!!
