    Story

I recently visited Kampala Children's Centre as a Volunteer, and was overwhelmed by the love, generosity and creativity that exists. There is potential for more than they already do. Some of the practical things we take for granted in the western world are either very expensive or don't currently exist within the centre that would make life just that little bit easier. Some of the houses only have what are called Charcoal cookers to cook with. Although it's a good discipline to wash their own clothes, it would be easier if they had washing machines and space saving rotary driers. To power these items electricity would be needed, where solar panels would make them self sufficient and less reliant on the existing electricity suppliers. These suppliers are famous for power cuts.
There are 12 houses where a House Mother or Father live and support 12 Children. These Children have been orphaned due to War, parents dying or too poor to support the children. It's not a position of feeling sorry for these children, rather seeing potential in them and offering them all the opportunities to turn their lives around. Also for them to become leaders in the future that positively impact the world. Giving them a chance.
I was impacted obviously to do something, so I looked at how much it would cost to supply some if not all the items mentioned. A lot of money I don't have... So I am hoping that a 100,000 people would be willing to donate a £1 or more towards this... Being part of someone else's life you may never meet, but has an impact you could never dream of. Each time you switch on the light, use the washing machine or your cooker you can be amazed and thankful that you can do this. Even if you don't give a £1 or more. There are opportunities where you can personally sponsor a child through NDE Networks, 6 Broad Road, Sale Manchester 0161 962 2414. Their website is : http://www.kampalachildren.org/ I am a volunteer that is independently responding to a need.
