Story
The firefighters of Maud fire station are in the process of raising funds in order to purchase public access defibrillators (PAD) for the villages in our area. Following on from the successful fundraising & installation of New Deer's PAD we are now fundraising for Maud. We will also be providing input on how to carry out effective CPR aswell as defibrillator awareness to anyone in the community.
-What's a defibrillator?
A defibrillator is a device that gives a high energy electric shock to the heart through the chest wall to someone who is in cardiac arrest.
This is called defibrillation, and it's an essential lifesaving step in the chain of survival.
-Why place a defibrillator in the community?
Cardiac arrest can happen to anyone.
Survival rates fall by 10% every minute with out action.
Using a defibrillator within 3 minutes can give up to a 70% chance of survival.
We have had a number of donations so far but for this to happen we need your support.
For whatever you can give thankyou for giving.
