Story
This project main objective is to provide fortnightly film nights (free) to help our children and young people access and build their emotional intelligence and resilience skills.
Film is a powerful medium and everyone reading this will remember the film that left a lasting impression, inspiring you to achieve greatness in your lives.
Accessing your emotional intelligence and resilience skills is not taught in school. It is a fact that our children lack social emotional skills and enter adulthood ill equipped. More and more children are suffering with mental health issues and which for some may result in mental health disorders in adulthood.
1. Did you know: One in ten children aged between 5 and 16 years (three in every classroom) has a mental health problem, and many continue to have these problems into adulthood.
2. Over half of all mental ill health starts before the age of 14 years, and 75% has developed by the age of 18.
3. Among teenagers, rates of depression and anxiety have increased by 70% in the past 25 years. (3)
4. NHS England estimates that poor mental health costs the economy, NHS and society £105 billion a year in England (4)
5. Children are less likely to suffer from serious mental health difficulties in later life if they receive support at an early age
This is the legacy we are leaving our communities and it is my deepest wish that each child is equipped sufficiently with lifelong tools that will lead to them having successful lives
Building emotional intelligence and resilience through the medium of film is a unique way of acquiring some of tools needed to live as an adult in our communities.
I will need to find funds to
a) acquire a licence to show films in public places ( community halls/ schools)
b) pay to hire a venue to show the films
c) buy the material films and projector
d) pay a film night facilitator
No-one else is helping our children to acquire these important skills l am passionate.. Help me to do so
