Story
Blooming Darvel!
The ‘Friends of Morton Park’ has been set up by the Darvel Improvement Group. We are trying to raise at least £1000 through single or multiple donations of £5 towards the Morton Park ‘ROSE’ Garden project in Darvel.
The idea is to dedicate one or more of our 200 roses to a special person in your life and to record the donations and dedications on a displayed list. Once we have attained our target a prize draw will take place and one lucky person will receive a magnificent bouquet of roses from Thistle du Florist in Darvel.
Our overall renovation project will cost £56,300 and to date we have received £46,300 from East Ayrshire Council’s Renewable Energy Fund, £1,000 from Tesco’s Bags for Life and various donations from individuals and businesses totalling £500. We are currently applying to other grant-making bodies for the balance of funding and also undertaking this Just Giving appeal.
With your help we will keep Darvel blooming for all our Community to enjoy for years to come!

7 years agoThank you to everyone for your help in achieving--and surpassing --the target. Along with other local donations we are likely shortly to reach the required total of £56,300 and to complete the re-development work. The garden should be totally restored and in full bloom next summer. A special thanks to my volunteers who prepared the planters and planted most of the roses. Weeding and on-going care of the area will need the help of as many of you as can be recruited--casual passers-by are welcome to "drop in".

7 years agoI have been overwhelmed by the support shown for this project and am delighted that so many people share my enthusiasm for restoring this once treasured feature of our local park. The roses will be planted by the end of July and major re-development completed by early 2018. Thank you for your help - still time to donate! Maureen
