    Story

Currently, Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) has identified that there are around 20,000 young people in Greater Manchester schools and colleges that will fall within the gaps of support and be left behind.

We believe every student in Greater Manchester should have access to a digital device that gives them the opportunity to use the learning resources and communities that are available for free online. Without access, a student's development is hindered and our campaign is all about working together with residents, schools, the council and businesses to stop that from happening.

We have partnered with IntoUniversity North Manchester, which provides teaching, support and guidance to local students who are pursuing their future career's, with the aim that the students who do not have access to devices can be gifted a Raspberry Pi 400 with an accompanying information pack that details the learning and community resources that are available.

Raspberry Pi 400 devices are affordable and easy to use computers that come with online self help guidance and communities to learn how to make the most of the devices. The Raspberry Pi Foundation also provides free online learning resources we will be promoting as part of our campaign to raise awareness of the skills that can be learnt online for free.

Last year, we joined the excitement and enthusiasm amongst the GMCA Digital Taskforce to help Fix the Digital Divide in Greater Manchester.

If you can, please donate to and share the Digital Pi fundraiser to contribute to the network of organizations and individuals who are committed to promoting Digital Inclusion in Greater Manchester. Any support is greatly appreciated.

A heart felt thanks to all those who have donated, we are nearly at 50% of our target so far! This is great news as it means we are close to being able to donate the 20 Raspberry Pi 400 Devices to Into University students. As our deadline is the end of September, so we would like to continue our fundraising efforts; If you would like to support our fundraiser, please share our next fundraising page and contact us if you'd like to do a sponsored activity to raise funds. Many thanks, Jamie, Global Shapers Manchester Hub
