MDS Falcons FC based in Sheffield are trying to raise funds to enable us to purchase a potentially life saving Defibrillator. This is a very important piece of equipment for any sports club of any age.
MDS Falcons have numerous football teams ranging from young children right the way through to u18, u21 and adults, plus a girls team.
We recently had a very serious incident when our u21 team where playing a pre-season friendly when suddenly the referee for the match fell ill with chest pains, which turned out to be a Heart Attack. On this occasion the first responders and Ambulance service luckily arrived in time and the referee was rushed to hospital where he was taken straight to surgery and had stents fitted and he's now on the mend thankfully.
This incident really opened our eyes to how desperately the club needs a defibrillator. On this occasion the referee involved was very lucky indeed, but if this happens again the next person might not be so lucky. Having a Defibrillator on hand would greatly improve the chances of any future victim surviving such a horrendous situation.
The defibrillator can help players, coaches, Referees, volunteers, parents or spectators if a incident like this occurrs again.
Each week we have hundreds of visitors to our home ground for Training and Matches and having this essential piece of medical equipment would ensure our first aiders can provide the best care possible while waiting for the emergency services to get on scene.
