Weʼre raising £30,000 to help fund six beds for our overnight dementia respite service and create a dementia-friendly sleeping area at Me2U Centre.

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
Imagine you wake up. It’s the middle of the night. Or maybe it’s the day. You’re not quite sure. Not for the first time that night.
You look round. You don’t know where you are. You get out of bed to find the bathroom but you can’t see where it is. It’s dark. Nothing is clear. Where are your glasses?
You make your way across the floor. You stumble to find a bathroom. Lots of doors. You feel a door frame. It’s the bathroom. You make it just in time.
You go back to your room, but you’ve lost your sense of direction. You see something move on the wall. Your heart leaps in your chest, frightened. Who is that staring back?
You go into a room, yours maybe. But you can’t see any belongings. Everything is just so confusing.
This could be a typical night for someone with dementia, and any one of us could find ourselves with this disease.
Fortunately, help is at hand.
We are the Me2U Centre, a dementia daycare facility that alleviates the strain on home carers while providing a safe, stimulating and supportive environment for people at all stages of the disease.
The centre can host up to 25 guests a day and offers clients nutritious meals, a range of therapies including music, reminiscing activities, games, films, crafts and gardening. Clients are even able to get their hair done or make use of the facility’s walk-in shower.
Now, we’re raising money to ensure a better night’s sleep for our overnight guests through a state-of-the-art dementia-friendly sleeping space.
In the evening, they can take advantage of our daytime facilities such as our sensory garden or Men’s Shed.
We’re hoping for six specialised beds (four for respite and two for crisis prevention) in an area designed especially for our clients using the latest technologies that will shape the future of dementia-care.
With your help, we can get closer to our goal of raising £120,000 towards our dementia-friendly sleeping area that will help clients and carers alike enjoy a comfortable and worry-free night.
About Me2U Centre
Me2U Centre helps people with dementia to remain independent for longer and provides respite care, advice and support to caregivers.
Me2U Centre was established in February 2018 by Rosie Whittington and friends. Rosie’s background in mental health nursing specialising in older people means she is perfectly placed to offer support to carers and clients including post-diagnostic counselling, medication management and dementia therapies.
The Me2U Centre is at the service of the whole community, extending use of its wet room to people from outside the centre where showering at home has become difficult.
The facility now provides dementia training for carers and develops new staff in health and social care.
It was set up independently without any help from investors and is reliant on the generosity of donors to continue its work to care and to educate people about dementia .

About the fundraiser
I am a mental health nurse specialising in older people's mental health. In 2018 I achieved my dream of opening the Me2U Centre to help those living with dementia and their families attain a better quality of life while remaining at home.
