Weʼve raised £875 to help Golden Years continue to subsidise community based events and activities to help reduce social isolation and loneliness.

Funded on Monday, 6th August 2018

    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

    Story

Golden Years is a community based group for older people that I am incredibly proud to have set up last year in an attempt to reduce social isolation and loneliness by offering a wide range of events for older people to get involved with.

We run a weekly friendship group which is open to anyone who would benefit from being part of a friendly new social circle. We also run a range of excursions and events each week for older people to partake with and enjoy new experiences with new friends.

Since launching Golden Years last summer we have seen the huge benefits and difference it has made to many people’s lives and we strive to continue to make these positive differences to help improve the quality of life of older people within our communities. We are keen to reach out to more older people who are at risk of social isolation and help them to feel part of something. Any funds we raise not only enable us to run more trips with subsidised transport but will also enable us to set up a telephone talk-line for older people around the country to be able to access to gain friendly support from this fabulous group, whilst also giving older members of our community the opportunity to be part of a brand new befriending scheme in order to help others.

I have a heart full of love and passion for everything Golden Years stands for and for the people who are part of it to make it the fabulous group it is...and for that reason, combined with being a little nuts, i‘ve signed up to do a stand on top of a flying plane and do a Wing Walk. This is to celebrate the ONE year anniversary and hopefully raise some money to help push our new and exciting Befriending scheme forward for Year 2!

Any kind of support towards the work we do for our community would be fab and really help us to continue with the great progress the group is making.

    Thank You 😊
