CAP aim to help over 20,000 people break free of poverty in this 20th year. I'm helping by being very silly in public for 20 days to raise funds for CAP in Highland Perthshire. I spun the wheel for the 20 for Twenty challenge and landed on... 20 days of fancy dress! All day everyday - wherever I go, whoever I meet. It would be great if you could please sponsor me in this challenge to raise money to help CAP reach more people in debt across the region. There'll be pictures to have a laugh!

Christians Against Poverty exist because nobody should be held hostage by debt and poverty. In a society where people live behind closed doors, 1000s are desperately poor. Unable to feed their children, incapable of paying to heat their homes in winter, the grip of poverty is relentless. It breaks families apart and drives many to think suicide is the only solution.

CAP are passionate about releasing people from a life sentence of debt, poverty and their causes. And so am I. All services are run through local churches, tackling poverty head on. Now I know this church part may be difficult for some, but as Martin Lewis says, "it's why they do it, not what they do."

For CAP, debt isn't about whittling down a sum in a cold analytical office. It's about people and families, and isolation and exclusion. In somewhere so geographically remote, the isolation becomes magnified and the descent into physical and mental ill health can be rapid. CAP visit people in their own homes and look at the whole situation, taking away paperwork to negotiate with creditors, providing a budget to live on and pay a way to a debt-free future. But CAP aren't just about money. CAP volunteers and workers walk alongside clients as personal befrienders. To say, you're not alone - you can do this. We're with you.
