Story
There is a saying in Indonesia that says: "if you are poor, don't get sick". This is sad but true. Many sick people in Indonesia are unable to see GP or to go to the hospital when required because for them it's like checking-into a hotel. You need money to go to a GP or to a hospital.
Baby Kevin Liu was born on the 20th of July 2017. Due to mom's Gestational Diabetes, baby Kevin Liu was born with breathing difficulty due to his immature lung and heart anomaly, some of the complications caused by gestational diabetes.
Baby Kevin Liu has spent the last 12 days in the hospital requiring respiratory support and on-going medication. His family has paid out of their pocket and friends help 8-10 million Rupiah (about £460-575) per day. Note that the average Indonesian's salary is 16 million Rupiah/ month.
At this point in time Kevin's family current financial situation will not longer able to sustain Kevin any much in the hospital. This means they might be required to withdraw baby Kevin from the hospital in matter of days.
As a mother, I am reaching out on behalf of baby Kevin's mother for your helping hands. No amount is too small and please don't forget to mention baby Kevin in your prayers tonight.
Ps. Kevin Liu's Mother's Facebook Page is: Shanty Chan Shanty.
