September 19th is a day Mexicans will remember for years to come. A powerful 7.1 earthquake shook central Mexico claiming the lives of over 300 people, leaving over 2000 people injured and a trail of collapsed or severely damaged buildings. Mexico was still recovering after another powerful 8.4 earthquake hit the southern states of Oaxaca, Chiapas and Tabasco. Many Mexicans have their homes and everything they had.

It is when tragedy hits that resilience and solidarity should emerge. Mexico in the Heart of England is a community united behind a single cause - to raise urgently needed funds that will assist with reconstruction efforts of hospitals, schools and homes for those who need it the most.

Funds will be donated to:

Ambulante is a grassroots organisation which has organised programs all over Mexico for the past 12 years. Ambulante will receive and distribute 100 percent of the funds directly to local organizations and social initiatives dedicated to helping those most affected by this catastrophe and distributed across different states, rural and urban areas.

At the end of the campaign, Ambulante will publish the total amount received.

Decisions of the allocation of funds will be made public and published on the Ambulante web page here

There will be an external audit of the use of the funds and these results will also be published.

100 percent of funds will be used for civil society initiatives and efforts (and not handed over to government or public officials).
