Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
When I saw on TV back in 2015 about the earthquake in Nepal, I just wanted to go out there and help, but due to my circumstances money and a job, I could not drop everything and go out.. So fast forward 2 years I am now in a position to go out and help, I am flying out on the 1st October 2017 to Nepal to help with the rebuilding of what ever is needed.
Since that devastating news on the TV, I have slowly changed my career path and from that I am now doing what I really want to do and that is Travel and Photography. However in the business plan I put together I always had in mind to help out at something like this or give back to a community as I have the time now, as I changed careers.
Back in March 2017 when I had just started to this travel and photography mission of mine, when I had an overwhelming urge just to book a flight to Nepal, so I did just that for 2 months time. I had no idea why I had to book this flight and only later did I actually meet up with the all hands group of volunteers who were going to site later in March (directly after Holi) .
I got to know a few of them and receive great encouragement to do something, I could not joining the fist wave of volunteers in may/June as I had other commitment, but was asked if I could put my name down for October/November which I did and have been accepted Flight has been booked.
So what am I raising the fund for, ? as I am not earning any money at present and living off my savings, my Flights (£400) there and back from Kuala Lumpur to Nepal. They always need various tools and safety equipment so around £100 for extras to them and the final amount of £500 is to give to the charity for what ever they deem fit for the build.
I do hope you can help me raise this money, and any amounts will do. As I am a photographer, if you donate £5 or more I will personally send you a small print from my photographic collection with a personal thank you note. The Photo above is from the project updates page
