Weʼve raised £85 to I AM CLIMBING BEN NEVIS AT NIGHT TO RAISE FUNDS AND AWARENESS FOR BOTH THE MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS SOCIETY AND THE LOLA COMMONS FUND.
- Glasgow, United Kingdom
- Funded on Saturday, 25th November 2017
Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
I will be climbing the uk's tallest mountain at night, on the 26th of August, which is nothing compared to the daily challenges my fiancé faces.
I am doing this in order to raise funds and awareness for the M.S. society as for the past fourteen years, My beautiful fiancé Leigh Ewing. has been living and battling M.S. Leigh was diagnosed when she was only seventeen, which is very young. And going by the scars in her brain the docs think she has had it from an even younger age.
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a disease of the central nervous system (your brain and spinal cord). The central nervous system cells are covered in a protective layer of fatty protein called the myelin sheath (a bit like the insulation on an electrical cable). MS is an auto-immune disease, where the immune system gets confused and instead of attacking an infection or virus, it turns on itself and attacks this protective sheath. This process is called demyelination. The demyelination disrupts the ‘messages’ being transmitted from and to the brain, causing them to slow down, become distorted or not get through at all.
Also a percentage of your donations will be going to the Lola Commons Fund.
The Lola Commons fund for SiMBA was established by Lisa Hague, SiMBA Ambassador, in 2013 following the stillbirth of her first daughter Lola in 2008. The fund was set up to focus on creating bespoke Family Rooms where parents can spend time with their baby away from the main labour ward and supplying equipment to help hospitals to enhance the bereavement services that they currently offer. The fund is currently working on fully refurbishing Family Rooms in The Southern General Neonatal Unit Glasgow, Simpsons Maternity Unit, Edinburgh, Nottingham University Hospital and the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.
Please help folks any donation is very much appreciated.
