As some of you will already know, Shell suffered a miscarriage towards the end of last year. This was a sad and upsetting time for us both but was made ten times worse due to the complications that Shell suffered and the poor treatment and advise given at the start. After several trips to A&E by ambulance, on the third visit the paramedics suggested trying Musgrove Park Hospital! The treatment and kindness given by the staff at Musgrove was exceptional. They were supportive, informative and booked Shell in for a minor surgical procedure within 24 hours. At a very difficult time, the EPAC (Early Pregnancy Assessment Clinic) and Day Surgery teams were extremely helpful, supportive and friendly and made the final process so much easier to deal with. Due to the treatment received by the staff at Musgrove and how taboo the subject of miscarriage seems to be, we wanted to raise awareness of such a common heartbreaking situation and then raise some much need money to support the two teams that helped us through this difficult time. We have therefore decided to take part in the Bournemouth Marathon Festival. Shell will be taking on the the 10k AND tbr half marathon, while Phil is stepping up to the challenge on competing in his first full marathon.
