My name is Mimi and this is my story. Last year, after over 10 years of fighting, I was finally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and Hyper-mobility which leave me in chronic pain and at risk of dislocating joints, of which I have many. I also have a permanently damaged knee which, after surgery, physiotherapy and steroid injections, surgeons have confirmed that there is nothing else they can do. Obviously this injury has had a massive impact on my other conditions, I have been on crutches for several years now but have had to use my self propelling wheelchair to go out when there is any significant walking that may be done as I could only walk two hundred yards without massive issues. These days though, I can't even do that and I am now unable to self propel my chair because I have weakness in my shoulder joints which often dislocate, and I now live on a mountain in Wales an getting up and down is now impossible for me.

What I am hoping to do here is raise some funds to help me get an electric wheelchair to give me back my freedom and independence. Getting this chair would mean that I could go out to the shop to get fresh foods, I could get to my appointments further away, and I could go out and be able to act like I used to, go to the cinema, go to restaurants or social meets. It would mean that I could start to make friends in my new home town, I have been here 10 months and haven't been able to get out and meet people. And most of all it would do wonders for the depression I suffer with, I am certain that this would make such massive changes to my life.
