    Story

My team and I are organising a Mental Health Awareness Event - Minds Matter - in Bristol on Thursday 19th April at The Steinbeck and Shaw.

The aim of our event is to raise awareness of Mental Health and help support Help Musicians UK's new campaign 'Music Minds Matter' - a 24/7 Helpline and support service.

As music students, we realise the prominence of Mental Health issues in this industry and believe that by working alongside Help Musicians UK to promote their recent 'Music Minds Matter' campaign, we will be able to widen the conversation around those issues and further the support that Is available to those working in music.

The event will be comprised of artists such as Will Heggadon, Nick Wilson and Saint Loe, introducing themselves with personal talks about their experience with mental health and finishing with acoustic performances of their music. This will also involve a guest speaker from Help Musicians UK, who will be giving the audience an insight into their charity, the kinds of support they offer, their recent Music Minds Matter campaign and how they can get involved.

As this is a non-profit event, we will be relying solely on financial support if it is to be a success. We are looking to raise a total of £450, allowing us to incorporate an influential artist to headline our event and support the promotion of the event and the cause.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated and we urge you to attend our event to help increase the awareness of Mental Health, the support that is on offer and to acknowledge that it is nothing to be ashamed of.
