We are raising money for a memorial bench in memory of our Dad, Michael Mercer.

The bench is going to be located in Pleasington, Blackburn where he loved to fly his planes and walk his dogs. One of my dads only requests were that no flowers were to be bought for his funeral so we thought this would be a good idea for anybody wishing to make a donation.

Just before his 40th birthday - 22.02.2016 he was diagnosed with stage 4, bladder cancer. After a major operation and 4 months of chemotherapy in September 2016 he was given the all clear! All going well and living his life to the fullest he returned to the hospital in March, 2017 for his 6 month check up where the doctors announced the sad news that the nasty disease had returned in his stomach. The nurses were unsure as what to do as the chemotherapy had originally made him very poorly. After finding another way to help him get better he left the hospital with all hope. As time went on the pain and discomfort were increasing so ill He returned back to Blackburn A & E on the 12th May where they did a scan to find the cancer had again spread to his lungs and bones. Our dad was then diagnosed as terminal with only MONTHS left to live. He gave up working and spent his last weeks with his family and friends as each day was becoming more of a struggle. On the 11th June @ 11.50pm he passed away in the comfort of his own home with the closest family and friends around him.

He was loved very much by everybody!
