    Story

    Hello all! As you may already know. I am currently back in my second home, Malawi! I’ve created this fundraiser as a project in my village needs some help and quickly at that! It is in relation to a nursery, that has been established by my close friend Charlie Belizario; founder of Mothering Bolera.

    Mothering Bolera is an NGO, set up to educate our villages youngest children, run a feeding programme for them, and in the future do so much more (the charity is still in its early days, awaiting status). This is its website would you be interested in finding out more; https://www.motheringbolera.com

    I am reaching out now as it is soon approaching rainy season, which is a blessing for our village’s crops, but a curse on the ongoing nursery construction. The nursery currently holds outdoor classes for around 50 children, teaching the basics and basing classes on topics and themes; the current topic being ‘occupations’.

    With the nursery classrooms being incomplete, when the rains come, classes will diminish as there won’t be a safe indoor learning environment. Alongside this, the rains will also strip back some of the plastering underwater that has been done on the building, hence backtracking the already fantastic work that has been achieved via fundraising!

    My aim of this fundraiser is to raise around K500,000 (around £550) to cover the following costs;

    -completion of the building of two nursery classrooms

    -completion of an office, for safe storage of learning resources and food supplies

    -starting costs for the feeding programme.

    Above I have mentioned the feeding programme. Establishing a feeding programme in Malawian village schools is key, as many children will not be fed at home, and hence this hinders their learning ability. Feeding children also provides an incentive to come to school, making their futures brighter. The feeding programme consists of a nutritional porridge served in the morning just before classes. This is the most cost effect and healthiest way to feed the kids, as many are malnourished. This programme costs around K70,000 (£75) per month, for all 50 children.

    Any contribution will be massively appreciated by myself, Charlie, the teachers running the school and the children! Thank you in advance.

    ALL DONATIONS WILL BE DIRECTLY GIVEN TO THE NURSERY PROJECT MANAGER IN BOLERA, Eric Nsauka; pictured below with his baby daughter .
