Story

MUDIWA WILL BE DEPORTED TO ZIMBABWE UNLESS WE CAN RAISE £11,000 TO PAY FOR LEGAL FEES TO FIGHT FOR HER RIGHT TO REMAIN

My name is Mudiwa Madzima. I am a 19 and have just finished my A-levels. I have a place at Nottingham University to study Politics. England is my home, where my family & friends are and the only country with which I have a connection. I was born in Zimbabwe, but my only family live in England. I need urgent help because time is running out before I will be forced to leave the only place I know. Zimbabwe is a deeply hostile environment for anyone to face, due to political & economic chaos, much more so to a 19 year old girl with no connections. In England I look forward to pursing my passions by continuing to contribute to society. Meanwhile, in Zimbabwe there will be no way to fund my higher education and I will face a 90% unemployment rate alone. Furthermore, women in Zimbabwe are common targets of political violence and do not have the same opportunities as men, especially politically. This is where I ask, would you want this for your sister or daughter? Please help me with this cause to ensure I have a future.

Many people have already generously donated money to pay for the first stage of my legal application to remain in the UK. However, sadly the appeal was stopped at an "error of law" hearing.

Lawyers are now assisting me to submit formal representations to the Home Office to enable me to remain. They are instructing expert witnesses to explain my case. I am so grateful for all the support I have received from so many people. Thank you so much.

Can you help? Please be as generous as you can and try to ensure that Mudiwa has a good and fruitful life in the safety of our country. Remember: it is only luck that you were born here.

We have raised over £7000 as a result of our initial appeal and would like to thank everyone for their generosity. In particular, we would like to thank one anonymous donor who gave nearly £2000; but everybody who gave did so generously. The initial application for leave to appeal has been lodged and is awaiting review. It is difficult to predict the legal process that is still to come, but we are building a war chest to cover all eventualities. Some teachers from Mudiwa's school are organising a live music event on Friday May 25th at... (1/2)
