    Story

Ny name is Hannah and I am 20years old. My mum has has been ill all my life and I have cared for her along side my amazing dad. She has suffered multiple T.I.As (mini strokes), multiple surgeries for various illnesses that she has encountered. She has had a degenerative spine disease for a number of years which is increasingly getting worse. She woke up one morning completely paralysed from her waist down she was rushed to LGI for emergency surgery. Luckily she gained back some sensation and was able to learn to walk again. Sadly her mobility is worsening and she has been unable to work for a number of years and is dependant on her waking sticks although she had very limited mobility with her sticks and myself and my dad have to physically move her legs some days for her to walk and help her with daily things most people take for granted. Her mobility scooter is her legs and her freedom, the day we were had saved up enough money and were able to buy it for her Iv never seen her so happy, she could go out again, she could come to the supermarket and on days out, it was a real life saver for her.
Unfortunately on Saturday 27th May... her birthday... we had a horrendous downpour of rain while we were out at a funday supporting a dear friend. The downpour very quickly lead to a flood and my mum was stuck in the worst park of the flood. A group of us managed to get my mum to a safer dryer place which I am so greatful of the help. Unfortunately they flood damaged my mums mobility scooter and it no longer works and inrepairable.
I would love to be able to get my mum a new scooter to get her freedom back for her so she can be out with her family and smiling, enjoying the summer! Her scooter is her "legs" as she says, it allows her to be a person and not trapped. Seeing her housebound and seeing her cry is absolutely heartbreaking.
I would like to thank people in advance for helping get my mum her freedom back xxx
