District Musicians CIC is made up of two professional Healthcare Musicians, Sophie Fishwick and Nick Jonah Davis. Our passion is to improve the wellbeing of people who are living with dementia, through the power of music. We have been taking music into hospitals, but with our ‘Music To Your Door’ project, we’re excited to be piloting a new way of working.

We know that one of the side effects of the pandemic has been to increase the isolation already suffered by people living at home with dementia, and this separation is most significant in remote and inaccessible communities such as the Derbyshire dales. Through working in partnership with Dr Penny Blackwell at Hannage Brook Medical Centre, we are now able to identify and reach people living with dementia in the Derbyshire Dales, and we're going to take our music to them.

By donating to Music To Your Door, you can help us to visit people at home, bringing our instruments and voices to share a range of music including popular songs from the 50s, 60s and 70s. Sessions will take place outside the home, either in front of the residence or in a garden. Our plan is to visit at least 6 different households a day to reach as many people as possible. Full Covid safety measures will be in place to protect both clients and musicians. Whilst we are applying to funding bodies to help support us in this work, we're keen to get this pilot project up and running over the summer months, and this ‘Go Fund Me’ campaign is the quickest way we know to make this happen.
