This campaign has been set up in response to the proposed deal between the UK Tory Government & the Democratic Unionist Party. The DUP are known for, among other things, their fiercely anti-abortion stance and for helping to maintain the ban on abortion in Northern Ireland. As a result, women* who require access to this vital medical procedure are forced to risk their health by buying questionable drugs online, flee the country to the UK where they will have to pay for a termination (as well as cover the cost of travel and accommodation, meaning this process is unfeasible for those on a low income), endure an unwanted or unsafe pregnancy, or take other desperate measures to avoid it, while hiding under a cloak of shame and secrecy in order to avoid a prison sentence.

It is utterly outrageous that a party who inflicts such violent trauma on women in the 21st century should be allowed anywhere near the governance of Britain and, as such, this campaign calls on all those who reject the DUP and everything they stand for to donate in solidarity with the women of Northern Ireland who have been suffering at the hands of this party for decades. The campaign is also in solidarity with women in the Republic of Ireland who are likewise impacted by the criminalisation of abortion and denied their right to full autonomy over their own bodies.

The money from this fundraising campaign will be split evenly between the Abortion Rights Campaign, who are fighting for an end to criminalised abortion in Ireland, and the Abortion Support Network who help women that cannot afford to travel to the UK for medical treatment to access the funding and support they need.
