Weʼve raised £2,353 to help buy a disability buggy for Alfie

Funded on Wednesday, 12th July 2017

Don't have time to donate right now?

    Story

    Alfie

On the 18th of June 2017 myself and some of my gym buddies are for the first time taking part in the challenge called Tough Mudder. We will have to complete a 10-12 mile course that will also involve a very muddy 20 obstacles.
This started out as a personal challenge but as time grows closer and closer to the event I have been asked what charity I am raising funds for as they would like to make a donation and to be honest I wasn't until now...
Now there are countless worthy charities I could ask for donations towards but only one cause that has affected me personally.
My best friend Morna and her husband Stephen had a beautiful baby boy 8 years ago called Alfie. Whilst this was a happy and joyful occasion on the birth of their baby boy it soon became apparent Alfie was different from other children and was sadly diagnosed with a rare condition called Cri Du Chat syndrome. This is a chromosomal condition that's results when a piece of chromosome is missing during foetal development. Having this condition causes intellectual disability and physical development affecting Alfie's speech and physical movements.
While my friends have coped amazingly with Alfie's disability it has also been a tremendous struggle at times.
Alfie can walk and is a happy go lucky little boy who can be boisterous like other little boys his age but he also has no sense of danger. To keep Alfie safe while trying to go about their daily lives as normal as possible with Alfie's condition they rely heavily on the use of a disability buggy that costs £1500.00. As Alfie has grown in years he has now outgrown the buggy they have come to rely on.
This is where I would like to step in and help my friends by trying to raise as much funds as I can that will contribute to the purchase of a new disability buggy for Alfie.
So please any donation big or small will be gratefully appreciated to help keep Alfie safe and mobile.
    Nicola
