Story
Our friends at Aid Convoy have been bringing supplies and aid to Syria since the beginning of the conflict.
We want to make a special gesture and allow those who are willing to help civilians in Syria to offer a whole ambulance, fuel, spare tyre and all, plus as much medical equipment as we can. All the money donated for this fundraiser will go towards this initiative.
The drive aims to give a lifeline to hospitals in Syria. A strong message to the Syrian civilians, the doctors and humanitarians from all if us in UK is that they are not forgotten, they are seen, they are heard, and people do care.
Syria’s hospitals, medics and medical facilities have been repeatedly targeted since the country’s brutal civil war started in 2011. There have been at least 382 attacks on medical facilities since the conflict began.
The conflict has also sparked a huge increase in people who need medical care and a major shortage of essential drugs and equipment. According to the UN, more than 11.5 million Syrians need urgent healthcare.
Aid Convoy aims to send ambulances to Syria.
These emergency vehicles are the first and more so, the only response system straight after bombs hit civilian areas in Syria everyday. The ambulances are targeted to be destroyed repetitively, and many need replacing often. It is so crucial for the people of Syria to have these vehicles for use in emergency medical response on site but also to take the more seriously injured to hospitals, usually located far away. Time is life and frequently, without these ambulances, many lives are lost.
