    Story

NAIRN CARES........ WHAT DO WE DO?

Nairn Cares was set up in November 2016 when a good friend of Clair's was struggling to provide food for her family, after her partner was pushed out of his job by being bullied, the family claimed for universal credits and were told that yhey had to wait 6/12 weeks before their claim 'went live'. Clair helped this family with food for the parents, children and pets and got to thinking......... this is just one family in our local community who is struggling and Clair having a heart of gold, wanted to ensure that all of her local community neighbours always had access to food, pet food and sanitary products. Never in a million years did she think it would be as popular and highly demanded as what it has become.

Clair, has a wonderful bunch of friends and supporters who have been beside her since day one, and is backed by local community shops. These include Swanson's fruit and veg shop, B. Clarks and sons butchers, Maggie's Hippilicious Dreams, David Milligans removals and The Albert Inn Hotel.

Clair ensures that every food parcel contains a variety of tinned foods, pasta, rice, squash, toilet rolls, tooth paste, shampoo's, showel gels, soaps, laundry powder, washing up liquid, cereals, biscuits, crisps, sweeties for the children, packet and jars of cooking sauces, tinned fruit, dog/cat food (tins and dry), sanitary products for ladies and shaving foam and razors for the gents. She even provides fresh meat for the family so they can enjoy at least one good, healthy meal as well as some fresh vegetables and fruit, this is especially important for those children that are required to take a healthy snack into school.

Last christmas, Clair and the team purchased 6 christmas dinners, and git donated presents from MFR Cash for Kids to give 6 families a christmas experience, which was a very huge task but Nairn Cares pulled it off!

The reason for this appeal, in every food parcel, Nairn Cares provides a £5/£10 gift voucher for the co-op or Sainsbury's to enable the family to have a small sense of normality and be able to go and buy fresh milk, bread, ham, cheese, butter....... the things that Nairn Cares finds so difficult to store. Most of the time, these vouchers comes from Clair's own pocket, not only that but Clair hand delivers every food parcel to each family's home so they don't have to struggle carrying the items.

PLEASE DON'T FEEL AS THOUGH YOU HAVE TO DONATE, THIS IS HOPEFULLY ALSO RAISING AWARENESS TO REACH TO THOSE FAMILIES WHO HAVEN'T YET HEARD OF NAIRN CARES, and lastly......... THANK YOU.

Leeann (Friend and supporter of Nairn Cares)
