    Story

My loving husband, Naresh Sevani, a mere 37 years old has sadly recently been diagnosed with incurable late stage Bowel Cancer which has spread to his lungs and other abdominal areas. He is also a son to two wonderful parents, a brother to three very supportive siblings and a fun-loving uncle to 3 nephews and nieces.

Unfortunately, the doctors have told us that he may only have a few months left because his chemotherapy is no longer working as he is now suffering recurrent bowel obstructions which can leave him unable to eat for days or weeks at a time. They have given him the option of trying some some tougher combinations of drugs which have a lower success rate than which he has already tried. Or to go home and allow palliative care to manage his symptoms. As difficult as this choice was, he has gone for the latter option because in his words he wants “a better quality of life and to enjoy the rest of my life at home with loved ones”. The options for prolonging his life are scarce compared to how aggressively this cancer has spread.

As you can imagine how heart-breaking this is for me to know that he could go at any moment when he had his whole life to look forward to. For those of you that know Naresh, will know how caring, supportive and funny he is. We have been married for just over a year but we have not been able to enjoy married life as within a month of being married he became ill and has been in and out of hospital since. We haven’t had the chance to buy a home or start a family and now won't be able to… ever…

I am currently not working. With everything that’s going on, it’s too difficult to balance work with supporting and caring for my husband. This means our finances will be much tighter and we may struggle for them. I’ve turned to this Crowdfunding page mainly to create some final beautiful memories for him and those around him and to help lift some of the burdens of any household bills.

For those of you that have been privileged to know Naresh, you will know he will never openly ask for things but I know there are a few things he would still love to do such as short trips with friends to a local beach, zoo or park (to see his beloved pigeons!), as well as one final trip abroad (if his health permits) and an opportunity to create some more lovely memories with myself, his family and friends.

Other activities he has always wanted to experience include abseiling, tennis lessons, archery lessons, clay pigeon shooting, a hot air balloon, a ride in a fighter jet. Many of these he may no longer be deemed fit enough for but he would be happy to compromise.

Your kind donations will be greatly appreciated for us to help my loving husband achieve any dreams of his before he goes and for all of his family and friends to look back on these wonderful memories of Naresh. Thank-you.

The funds raised will go to: - A donation to the Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice (where Naresh was looked after during his final days) - Bowel Cancer Research - Emmaus UK (Homeless Charity) - A Memorial Bench - Giving him a good send off (we will be holding a remembrance day in about 6 weeks time for all friends and family to attend and raise a glass to Naresh & look back at his unique moments) - Scattering of his ashes in suitable place

We are deeply saddened to inform you all that Naresh passed away on Tuesday 29th August at 8:46pm, a day before his 38th birthday. As hard as this time is for all of us, it is nothing compared to the pain and suffering Naresh endured over the past 7 months. We will miss him everyday, but we know he is at peace now and creating a whole new journey for himself. Because Naresh could not do any of the activities mentioned above, we will continue to keep the crowdfunding page open so please feel free to donate if you wish to do so.
