    Story

NYC based Victoria Banks is an American registered nurse employed by USAID currently stationed in Lagos, Nigeria. She is working within a team that provides a wide range of health assistance to a much deprived community in & around Lagos. She helps out taking rounds, monitoring patients, immunising children, as well as assisting in surgery.

    Her first tour in Africa.

Vic is also a bread winner & a very large chunk of her earnings after tax fly straight home to pay for her 89 year-old God Mum's hefty medical insurance, as well as her own. Victoria's God Mother - in need of 24-hour care - looked after her when Victoria lost her parents at the age of 16.

Deeply in love with one other, Victoria and I are beginning to build our future. If happy at 60N, Victoria could relocate to my island to live and serve our local community. Shetland -or the Shetland Isles - the most northerly corner of Scotland, UK, has a chronic shortage of medical staff due to its remoteness.

As part of her employment contract, Victoria has a window to join me this year. This would the perfect opportunity to be together on the "same latitude". We have the ambition to make a head start in life, yet we need help. Our combined modest earnings & respective financial commitments cannot cover her ENTIRE travelling costs from Nigeria to Shetland.

Your help will provide us TO COMPLETE those costs, as well as a fabulous opportunity to make fresh start in life. We are thankful for your generosity.

    Thank YOU :-)

Vic and I are VERY thankful for ALL YOUR KINDNESS & GENEROSITY. Leave granted. She returned to the US Consulate in Lagos and looking to book her flights, as she is funding the difference (her half of the ticket). She has no other way to do it but through the US Consulate. Their system. All goes well, I will post a picture of us united at home here, in Shetland by mid-June. We are both extremely humble by YOUR humanity and generosity. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We are both very happy. THANK YOU. Nat & Vic XXX

8 days to go! Thank you ALL, known, and anonymous, for your heartfelt kindness and generosity. We are truly touched by your humanity, compassion and LOVE. Today, Vic applied successfully for leave. She had her interview after work, and she is setting her next step a little closer to 60N. Every day, heart, act of kindness counts. We feel so humble by it all. Once on my latitude, Vic wants to meet and say "thank YOU" to all of you who have helped. She feels so grateful. She is hoping to meet you all. STILL time to help, THANK YOU!

18 days left till the end of this crowdfunding campaign and we are contemplating air tickets from Lagos. The visa is sorted, and Vic is now looking at applying for leave. We are still needing a little bit more help in the meantime, so new supporters are more than welcome between now and 25 May! THANK YOU for helping us!
