During a family holiday Lydia's parents became aware of the colour difference between both of Lydia's eyes on photographs. One eye appeared to be red and the other appeared to be white, this was on multiple pictures all from different angles. Therefore when they returned to the UK they took Lydia straight to the GP to be on the safe side as it wasn't long ago Lydia's family had seen something on Facebook about a little girl having something called retinoblastoma. On the 31st October Lydia's parents were told the most devastating news that their daughter who is 18 months old had infant developed retinoblastoma in one eye. Lydia was referred to Birmingham children's hospital where they were told that the tumour was so big that she had already lost her eyesight in that eye and the best treatment would be to remove her eye permanently. Within the next week Lydia and her family need to return to Birmingham for Lydia to undergo the operation to remove her eye and the tumour. She will then have to undergo further tests to see whether this nasty disease has spread any further. Treatment at this stage is funded for Lydia, however this page has been set up to help Lydia's family out financially whilst this nightmare continues. Lydia's parents' first priority is caring for and supporting their little girl, therefore they are having to take a lot of unpaid time off work. The money raised from this page is intended to take some of the financial worries about from the family, providing them with the funds to travel to Birmingham however many times is required and to help provide Lydia with everything she needs to keep her daily routines consistent. Every penny will be put to good use to help and support baby Lydia and her family. Any money left over will be donated to a charity that supports childhood cancer.
