Story
'Books are a uniquely portable magic' (Stephen King)
The needs of the people who lived in Grenfell are great; housing, food, security, answers... there is no denying that.
What has struck me is the loss of personal items and for children; the loss of their favourite toys and books - things that provide reassurance to them in their in day to day lives, even when they are not going through something as traumatic as this.
A small gesture of donating much loved children's books, or book vouchers to the children of Grenfell Tower to replace the books they've lost might offer some small escape from the fear and confusion that they must be going through.
Any funds raised will be distributed to local schools and through local libraries. As the organisation of the relief efforts becomes clearer, this page will be updated.

A Londoner by way of Hereford, books were my escape as a child. As an adult I have my 'books to save' pile in the event of a quick exit - from my childhood it's 'The Children of the New Forest' by Captain Marriot, and 'The Dark is Rising' series by Susan Cooper. What are yours?
