At the end of April 2017 I will be travelling to Knysna in South Africa to help conserve the largest land mammal on earth – the African elephant. The elephants I will be working with are homed in a local sanctuary where they are cared for due to them being either relocated, ex-circus or orphaned. This is vital animal conservation as elephants are an endangered species.

I am really excited to pursuit this challenge because it is a once in a life time venture which I have always wanted to do. It would be an amazing accomplishment to know that I have helped to conserve such an incredible mammal.

This project involves me learning about scientific research methods and principles, contributing to ongoing wild elephant research at Addo Elephant National Park, stable cleaning at the Elephant Sanctuary and recording behavioural observations of the elephants. Alongside this, personal time will provide me with the opportunity to partake in a plethora of activities including bungee jumping, shark diving, exploring Africa such as Cape Town and taking part and engaging with the local community.
I have a strong passion for tourism and truly believe that in order to be successful I need to experience this for myself and truly engage with other cultures. Therefore, this will be the first step of the process to my future.

However, this is a huge financial cost which I have to pay myself, therefore your generosity will help me fund this project and donate a lot more to this amazing organisation which I otherwise would not be able to do from my own funds.
