Ollie is a 6 year old boy.

In February 2015 he was diagnosed with Battens disease; a rare life limiting neurodegenerative disease.

Six weeks later his younger sister Amelia was also diagnosed with Battens.

There is no cure.

Children with Battens suffer seizures, lose the ability to walk, speak, swallow and their vision, and they do not normally live beyond the age of 12.

From midday September 1st I'll be walking the Bullock Smithy; that's 56 miles, roughly the equivalent of walking Manchester to Leeds, in one go, walking right through the night for around 24 hours solidly taking on the Peak District and many of its summits. For you Fitbitters thats approximately 123,200 steps!

Im doing it to raise money both for this family to make their limited time together as special as possible, but also to support their work in raising awareness and helping fund research into finding a cure.

I am not a walker.

It's something I've been doing more of recently, particularly since i decided to take on this massive challenge, but the furthest I've walked so far, once, is just 20 miles and I was hobbling like John Wayne for two days afterwards. I'm risking chafing in places you don't want chafing, lost toenails, tears and tantrums for Ollie, Amelia and other children with Battens, hopefully you can dig deep too
