The Founder

New Beginnings is a place of healing and hope for expectant girls and young mothers who need support. This organization was started by a single mother whose own experiences helped her become aware of the fact that there is a lot of young girls in Malawi getting pregnant out of wedlock and becoming mothers. The problem is, there isn’t much that is done to help such girls. Most of these girls are chased away from their parents or guardian’s houses for being a disgrace ,they drop out of school , are called awful names such as loose or labelled as prostitutes and there is a lot of negativity that comes their way. Some may have the father of the child around but in most cases, the one responsible denies the pregnancy and these girls are left to deal with being pregnant and raising the child on their own. Some are forced to marry the one who impregnated them, and some are abused physically and emotionally by their partners but stay with them because they don’t want to raise the child alone. These girls are not respected in the society at all, and on their own, they feel hopeless. Most look down on themselves and have no sense of self-worth or confidence. They have been hurt by the world and by their own wrong choices and they are unaware of how to help themselves. Our target is girls between the ages of 13 to 22, and they will come from different walks of life. Every girl will be given the chance to be a part of the program for a maximum of 2 years, those who show results before the 2 years will be able to leave early allowing us to make space for other girls in need.
