Story
Both my dad, who suffered from dementia in his later years (he passed away in early 2015) and my mum, (who didn't suffer from dementia) who passed away in late 2017, enjoyed their last few years in Newcarron Care Home, where they were very well looked after by the wonderful staff.
The home provides a varied selection of entertainment for its elderly residents including live music, etc. My mum and dad even had a special 70th wedding anniversary party put on by the home, complete with entertainment, when they celebrated 70 years of marriage in March 2014.
At present, the care home does its best to provide days out for its elderly and dementia residents, by arranging days out in hired minibuses. However, this means arranging things well in advance and with the Scottish weather, they can never guarantee that the planned day out is going to be a good one. Often, a planned day out is a wash out. If they have their own minibus, they could arrange ad hoc days out, when the weather is good, thereby greatly improving the enjoyment for their residents, who are all in the final years of their lives and often also suffering from dementia.
I am therefore trying to raise enough money for the care home to have their own minibus. I will also be donating a healthy amount from the money that I will inherit from my parents, once it all goes through the legal processes.
