Many new mums will face challenges in the early days of breastfeeding. Some won't have even seen anyone else do it and then all of a sudden you are sent home with a hungry baby, boobs full of milk but no clue on how to start... a kind of "all the gear but no idea" scenario!

The Newmarket Breastfeeding Support Group set up by local mums, offers a safe space to talk openly and honestly both online in the facebook group and face-to-face at the weekly coffee mornings!

We need to be able to reach new mums, offer our advice, share our experiences and let them know that they are not alone. To do that we need money to create fliers to be distributed by midwives and health visitors to mums that want to breastfeed their babies in our community.

We would also like bigger floor mats to make the space comfortable for our babies and possibly some comfy bean bags for mums to feed in.

The rest of the money we would like to dedicate to training up breastfeeding peer supporters to offer advice or signpost mums needing help with breastfeeding to support services. The funding for the training of peer supporters has been cut so it is more important than ever that we raise enough money to effectively support mothers on their breastfeeding journeys whether that is 2 weeks or 2 years.
